By Erich Pratt of Gun Owners of America – December 31, 2024

2024 brought many challenges, but it also brought so many opportunities that gave me hope. We were able to elect a pro-gun Senate majority and defend our God-given right to keep and bear arms while working to defeat anti-gun legislation.

As we head into the new year, I’m excited to work with the Trump administration to abolish Biden’s Office of Gun Control and at the prospect of National Concealed Carry Reciprocity becoming law.
Every single day, GOA lobbyists pound the pavement to defeat gun control legislation and promote pro-gun bills. It doesn’t matter if it’s in Washington, D.C., or in state capitals. If it impacts your Second Amendment rights, GOA’s team is at the table, working to protect gun owners. No compromise.

UPDATE on Abolishing the ATF: – January 2, 2025

In 2012 the Center for American Progress (CAP), a left-leaning think-tank, made recommendations that the ATF should be absorbed by the FBI so as to streamline federal firearm enforcement.

In 2014, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), member of the Judiciary Committee and chairman of the Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee submitted legislation to dissolve the ATF. In 2017, he reintroduced The ATF Elimination Act that would merge it’s duties into other agencies.

In January 2023, Rep Matt Gaetz (FL-01) introduced the “Abolish the ATF Act” of 2023 to eliminate the ATF.

If this passes under Trumps presidency, taxpayers should see a reduction, and duplication should be eliminated.

It’s beginning to look a lot like taxpayers may actually see some benefits really soon.
