PRESS RELEASE – December 15, 2015 –
Yorba Linda is a suburban city in northeastern Orange County, California, approximately 13 miles northeast of Downtown Santa Ana and 37 miles southeast of Downtown Los Angeles.
Yorba Linda has been identified as one of the richest cities in the U.S. by the U.S. Census Bureau, which shows a median household income of $121,075, higher than any other city in 2006.
As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 65,237. Its most famous resident was Richard Nixon, who was born there, although his father moved the family away before Yorba Linda incorporated. The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is in Yorba Linda.
The Yorba Linda Taxpayers Association (YLTA) officially notified the Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD) in writing on Monday that the District is improperly infringing on our rights under the California Constitution with regard to the Board of Directors refusal to rescind their excessive water rates or place the water rate referendum on the ballot, after over 5500 voters signed the referendum in under 19 days in September and October.
YLTA has retained the prominent law firm of Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk (BMH) from Sacramento, who specializes in Government and Elections Code law. BMH attorney Brian Hildreth wrote, “By this letter, and on behalf of our client, we demand that the challenged legislative action (Resolution No. 15-22) be immediately suspended and that the Water Board forthwith consider its repeal or set it for an election. Delaying any of these actions is a denial of our client’s constitutional rights in the worst form.”
The Water District has 72 hours to respond to the Monday transmittal of the letter to discuss a resolution and avoid a challenge in court.
so does that mean City of Crescent City will be receiving a letter???the difference between us and them is the fact the city is making 3400 rate payers pay a 43 million dollar loan…bankruptcy is imminent.
