Harbor Commissioner, Ron Phillips and School Board Member, Roger Daley took turns respectively in speaking before the Republican Women’s group Thursday, April 5th. Each is seeking to upseat incumbent, Gerry Hemmingsen.
Ron Phillips recently had a health scare and his wife of 50 years had a stroke 2 years ago. They decided to take a cruise and upon returning, Ron went in for a check-up. With a clean bill of health, he made the decision to go gung ho into the District 4 Supervisorial race.
His biggest achievements: 23 years as the Crescent City Farmers’ Market Manager taking the Saturday event from an average of 23 vendors per week up to 61. Besides doing that, he has also been a Harbor Commissioner for the past 11 years. The backside of his handout speaks directly to the four areas the incumbent, Gerry Hemmingsen, has repeatedly failed:
- Last Chance Grade
- Attracting and keeping qualified physician
- The loss of 1,000 jobs and the closing of 76 businesses
- Promising to work with other supervisors and not against them
Ron Phillips believes he can do a better job.
