One student. One voice. That’s all it took. The voice was of High School Junior, Brandon Gillespie, who attends Rocklin High School in Sacramento, California. The message: stand for 17 minutes of silence and prayer in honor of the 10 children that were killed by abortion by Planned Parenthood facilities across the country in 17 minutes.
Los Alamitos has been in the news for being the first city to opt out of SB 54, Governor Brown’s Sanctuary State. On April 11th, they were in the news again for having a small group of high school students stand for Pro-Life.
Joining them were 300 other high schools and 80 colleges across the nation. At Moriarty High School in New Mexico, students said they participated in the walkout because 46 percent of abortions are committed on women and girls under age 25.
“We will no longer tolerate legal abortion in our nation, which has killed more than a fourth of our generation. We will no longer watch as our leaders in Washington continue to fund our nation’s largest abortion vendor, Planned Parenthood, with more than $500 million of our taxpayer dollars. We will no longer permit Planned Parenthood and their allies in the abortion industry to target our peers for their predatory business cycle,” a website promoting the walkout stated.
The Archdiocese of Atlanta Catholic Schools tweeted this picture of a seventh-grade pro-life student who led over 100 of her classmates in the Rosary in honor of the walkout. They voluntarily met at 7:30 am to pray before classes began. 
Across the country pro-life students let their voices be heard despite the setbacks they faced, including pushback from school administrators and counter-protests from pro-choice students.
A fellow student and editor of the Rocklin school newspaper said the pro-life walkout shouldn’t be allowed because abortion isn’t a topic that has to do with school. Brandon Gillespie disagrees.
“High school students, unfortunately, do get pregnant and the majority of them do get abortions, so yes, abortion does very much have to do with high school students,” he told Live Action News.
