How anyone can stay focused on this endless reality charade is beyond me.  It seems real life is now imitating a three hour Rush Limbaugh show where Rush repetitiously hammers home one point just so he doesn’t have to untie the other half of his brain from behind his back.  Sean Hannity isn’t much better, with his continual banter about the Steele dossier and the obviousness of corruption and lawlessness on the part of the Clintons.  Tell me something new … please.

Just in the nick of time comes the call for civility, also a repetition, on the part of the Left.  I will no longer refer to the Left as Democrats because, although this may be the same hypocrites who fooled my parents into believing they were for the working man, I have learned too much history to believe they are for freedom on any level.  Instead, they are much like those in Sacramento and Dixon who are all about control and “soft” enslavement.

Does this sound like what we are witnessing every day from those who profess to be Democrats?  The vocal minority of this party only accept elections which go their way, interpret the Constitution to meet their goals, and had no problem imbuing all power in the executive branch while “their man” controlled it.  Tyranny of the masses is not freedom.

I attended a candidate forum at the fire department.  The questions asked were pointed and thoughtful.  I complimented those present for coming up with the subject matter.  One of the questions was on how I would deal with a council whose members are dysfunctional and openly hostile to each other.  As most of them and the public are aware, I used profanity to stop the abuse I was getting from the mayor and vice mayor while holding the floor and speaking.  I reminded them of that.

There is a time and place for this type of action.  As I only had to resort to it once, I will say success was achieved but grudgingly.  Incivility comes in many forms and usually from those who call for civility only as a method of controlling others.  I prefer to research, discuss the facts, and use logic to come to a decision.  I don’t change my principles just because I don’t get my way.  I also don’t resort to violence or disruption as is becoming the trademark of the Left.

Let’s discuss the shameful actions from the Left during the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. I heard the accusations from Michael Savage that the protestors who somehow were admitted into the Judiciary Committee hearing on the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh were people who supported and profited off of Planned Parenthood.  I didn’t know that Piper Perabo, who is an actress and well educated, was anything other than a vegetarian liberal lunatic.  The others were certified members of Code Pink supposedly concerned about the overturn of Roe v Wade.

We hear all of the gnashing of teeth from those who want to keep the ability to murder their unborn children.  These are the same people who whine about Trump separating a child from its family.  Even though this was an Obama policy which they wish to ignore, is their blatant hypocrisy just in my eyes or do you see it too?

We heard the darling of California, Kamala Harris, breaking protocol and demanding that she be heard before the chairman Chuck Grassley had even had a chance to finish his opening statement.  Others chimed in including Corey Booker and Diane Feinstein.  It seems the uproar was about having a multitude of information given to them on Monday with less than 24 hours to read through it all.  Funny how these same people had no problem with Obamacare and “you have to pass it before you know what is in it”.

The point was well taken that it wouldn’t make an iota’s difference what information was given to those complaining because they weren’t going to vote for the nominee anyway.  Another valid point is Kavanaugh’s decisions on the DC court of appeals is public knowledge which any of them could have found and read.  This isn’t about not wanting a Republican or conservative on the court.  It is the opposition to a constitutionalist, someone who simply interprets the Constitution rather than rewriting it to suit progressive goals.

As usual I like to end these sermons by talking about what we can do as ordinary citizens.  As usual I waited too long to see the current Dinesh D’Souza documentary, The Death of a Nation, but it was well worth the drive and positioning myself to enjoy some tasty ribs in Placerville later in the day.  Dinesh again didn’t disappoint with his research and exposé of who is really out to destroy America.  The gem I found was interesting in it applies not only to what I do in this paper each week but also to my editor who shares the surname of those who risked and lost all to the Third Reich.

Hans and Sophie Scholl founded the White Rose resistance movement.  They published five pamphlets distributed in Munich which led to their arrest, a kangaroo court trial, and their beheadings in 1943.  All of this for opposing the establishment.  Does this sound exactly like what some inside and outside our community who hate critiques of local government would wish on this paper?

What jolted me was one of the quotes Dinesh put in his movie from Sophie.  “Stand up for what you believe in even if you are standing alone.”  The only difference between this and the one over my desk is “stand up for what is right …”.  It seems that Suzy Kassem wasn’t as original as those who would lead us to believe it is her quote.

Another quote from Sophie was this: “How can we expect fate to let a righteous cause prevail when there is hardly anyone who will give himself up undividedly to a righteous cause?”  This from a 21 year old girl.  How many of us worry more about making a buck or simply surviving than risking it all?  Hell, in this town we have people afraid to speak out on any subject because it might upset a government official who can retaliate against them.  What did Sophie think?

“The real damage is done by those millions who want to ‘survive.’ The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves-or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature. Those who live small, mate small, die small. It’s the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you’ll keep it under control. If you don’t make any noise, the bogeyman won’t find you. But it’s all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?! From what? Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does. I choose my own way to burn.”

I have only this to say to them, a final quote from Sophie: “Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”

What has any of this to do with us today?  Do you recognize the same actions of the few of Islamic faith who are marked for death by the fascists within their religion?  Most of us believe no one stood up to Hitler or are standing up to the terrorists of today.  For those of you on the Left who believe those of us unwilling to embrace the alphabet soup movement are of the same sort as either of these totalitarian groups, you had better look at yourselves in the mirror.
