How many of you think you’re going to die of the Covid 19 virus if you vote in person at the polling booth?

How many of you think that Gov. Newsom’s edict to vote by mail is legal?

How many of you think that registered voter rolls are up to date and accurate?

How many of you have confidence in the honesty and integrity of our electoral processes?

How can we have faith in our vote count when:

Deceased individuals are listed as active voters

Ballots are mailed to the wrong address

More that 2.75 million people have active registrations in more than one state (Pew Research Center report issued during the Obama years)

24 million active voter registrations in the US are no longer valid or are inaccurate. Plus illegal aliens are apparently casting votes.

On January 3, 2019, Judicial Watch announced that it signed a settlement agreement with the State of California and County of Los Angeles under which they will begin the process of removing from their voter registration rolls as many as 1.5 million inactive registered names that may be invalid. These removals are required by the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

The media has report after report of ballots gone missing. July 24th, CBS reported that in 2016 more than 73,000 ballots arrived too late to be counted. On May 21st, the Washington Post ran an article that more ballots are likely to be rejected particularly from first time voters and here’s why; signatures don’t match their signature card on file or ballots are not signed. Then there were thousands that were returned as undeliverable.

True case here in Crescent City. A few years back, Ken Towe had Parkinson’s. His vote wasn’t counted because his signature no longer matched the card on file. Ken and Rachel Towe lived in this City for 50 years and owned the RV park by South Beach.

What about fraud? Voting by mail makes it easier to stead ballots, forge or alter them as well as intimidate voters. Walking in to vote at your polling place makes it harder to do that.  In North Carolina in 2018 in the 9th Congressional District race, in which the result was overturned by the state election board because of illegal vote harvesting that included altering and forging absentee ballots.

Voting by non-citizens, including illegal aliens, is expressly prohibited by law. However, about a dozen jurisdictions now permit non-citizens, and even illegal aliens, to vote in local elections. According to Fairus.org, July 2020 article:

• In 2014, a study estimated that approximately 6.4 percent of non-citizens voted in the 2008 presidential election and that 2.2 percent voted in the 2010 midterm elections.
   
• The U.S. and the United Kingdom are the only democracies that do not have voter identification requirements.

Then as if mail in voting didn’t have enough problems, voting machines are vulnerable to hacking and bugs. If there’s a failure in the vote counting, then democracy fails. Always wise to have a back-up paper trail.

Here’s what we do. Our ballot is mailed to us. We fill it out and walk it in to the County Registrar of Voters office and place it in the ballot box. That’s the only way we are assured that it get’s to the right place. Then it’s fingers crossed that from that point on nothing goes wrong and our vote is counted accurately by the machine.
