It’s that time of year when one of the perks of living in the city comes true.  You get to put out grass, leaves, limbs and brush this coming next and it will all be picked up at NO CHARGE, as in FREE.

Here are the parameters:

TUESDAY, May 31st:  South of 9th Street.

WEDNESDAY, June 1st:  North of 9th Street

Put your stacked or bundled grass, leaves and tree limbs street side of curb for pick up by 7:00 A.M.

DO NOT PLACE MATERIALS IN GARBAGE CANS OR BAGS

Please separate grass/leaves from tree limbs/brush and no tree limbs more than 6 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.  Piles must be 6 feet or smaller in size.  You may have more than one pile.

This annual program is for City residents only and  ABSOLUTELY NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE WILL BE COLLECTED!!!

Thank you notes can be sent to the City of Crescent City, the Hambro Group and the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority.

  1. Great advice. Adopting the philosophy of permaculture can address many of the problems in today’s world.

  2. Start a home compost pile! I have never once during my 30+ years in Crescent City put out valuable compost materials for pickup. Weeds and light trimmings are added to household food waste to foster nitrogen fixing bacteria and a colony of earthworms. Tree limbs and brush have their own pile where a potent mix of local fungi break down the thickest branches in just a couple of years. We will all need home vegetable gardens to make it through this year’s food shortages. Your compost heap is the heart of your garden. Save the expense of buying compost at the store; make it yourself!
