PRESS RELEASE FROM DA DALE TRIGG
A
Del Norte County Jury found Donald Webb of Crescent City guilty of First Degree Residential Burglary, including a special allegation of a victim being present, and resisting arrest/delaying a peace officer for a break- in of the home of an elderly woman in the Lake Earl area on January 8, 2014.
During the commission of the burglary, the victim confronted two male subjects in her home with a gun and they fled the home. Shortly thereafter, Donald Webb, Zachariah Dungan and a female were apprehended by law enforcement and were found in possession of items taken from the victim’s home.
Prior to trial, Mr. Dungan pleaded guilty as charged. Neither Mr. Dungan nor Mr. Webb were offered plea bargains in the case. Both Mr. Dungan and Mr. Webb are being held in the Del Norte County Jail pending sentencing. Handling the case for the prosecution from start to finish was Deputy District Attorney Todd Zocchi.
I want to personally thank and acknowledge Todd Zocchi for his dedication and meticulous preparation of this case and his very effective and well-organized presentation to the jury that led to this just result. I also want to thank our Chief Investigator A.C. Field for his hard work in assisting Todd in investigating this case, preparing it for trial and presenting it to the jury. I am very honored and proud to work with these talented and dedicated men.
