The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office along with the Del Norte County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the death of Del Norte County Sheriff’s Deputy, Deanna Esmaeel. Deputy Esmaeel was found deceased in her home on North Bank Road Thursday morning 10-12-2023.
The suspect and boyfriend of Deputy Esmaeel is shown in the wanted person’s flyer. A warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Darren McElfresh for the arrest of Daniel James Walter, AKA Edward Patrick Davies.
Law Enforcement is actively looking for Walter, and his description and vehicle information is included in this post. At this time we are unable to release further details as this is an ongoing homicide investigation.
Message from Sheriff Scott: We are all deeply heartbroken with the loss of Deputy Esmaeel. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and co-workers.
A Ramey Warrant was issued on October 12th. He is considered a murder suspect. He was last seen on North Bank Road, Crescent City, Ca. at 0743 hours on October 12th. He was wearing a Beret style hat, white jacket, and blue jeans. He left the area on foot, traveling eastbound on North Bank Road towards Hwy 101.
Daniel James Walter legally changed his name to Edward Patrick Davies in July 2023.
He has connections to Curry County, Oregon. He drives a black 2010 Mazda 4 door sedan bearing license plate # “6JYD676”.
