Now is the time to kick critical race theory (CRT) out of our military!

This week, the House Armed Services Committee will undergo a markup for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA authorizes the annual defense budget and is one of the most important duties of Congress. Legislators can add amendments to the NDAA, providing Congress the first opportunity to reject critical race theory and kick this Marxist ideology out of our military.

The markup meeting begins on Wednesday, and Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) will introduce an amendment to the NDAA to defund critical race theory in our military. The language for the amendment comes from Rep. Bishop’s (R-N.C.) and Sen. Cotton’s (R-Ark.) Combating Racist Training in the Military Act, which Heritage Action has endorsed and over 100 congressmen and senators have cosponsored.

CRT is a major problem in the military—it’s infiltrating military academies, trainings, and contracts, and it’s dividing our military when they should be united. Leaders like the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, and Commander-in-Chief Joe Biden have encouraged the teaching of CRT in the military and throughout the federal government.

At a time when our military leaders should be focused on combating terrorism, they have instead tried to indocrinate our servicemembers in a racist and anti-American ideology.

We strongly encourage anyone concerned about CRT in our military to contact the members on the House Armed Services Committee, and urge them to vote YES on Rep. Bank’s amendment to defund CRT in the military.
