For over 40 years, the Crescent City Water Dept has been providing a steady stream of fluoride in the drinking water. Since 1980, the Water Dept changed products, without a vote of the people and without notifying the public that the new product is Fluorosilicic Acid, a toxic industrial waste product.
In January, 2011 the public was notified that 41% of teenagers in America are overfluoridated from so many sources of fluoride in addition to their drinking water. The city council voted to reduce the level of fluoride to .7 ppm from 1 ppm. It was a step in the right direction. However not enough. At Monday nights council meeting, April 16th, Council member Westfall introduced having warning statements added to the monthly water bill for new parents since so many parents are not aware that infants should not be drinking formula mixed with fluoridated water.
