Tuesday, January 25, 2021, The Board of Supervisors will rubber-stamp an agenda item so’s not to bring it to public attention.
It’s the beginning of a New Year and the Board of Supervisors are feeling ever so generous. Yes, This is going to be a real eye-opener folks.
Remember that 8.5% sales tax they roped us into? You know it was supposed to go for Roads, Fire District, Japan travels, BOLOGNA and etc. The one where you pay $1.00 for an item but 9 cents for tax. Yes, that one.
That money goes straight into the general fund to spend as they wish.
Tomorrow Morning at 10:00 am…the Department heads will receive a 7% increase in their wages.
The appointed Department heads will receive 5%.
So let’s do the math.
Heidi Kuntzel makes $120,000.00 per year. With a 7% increase, she will receive an additional $8,400.00 per year which comes out to $700.00 per month in her pocketbook.
Let’s not forget the Board of Supervisors voting for their 5% increase. There is something very wrong with this. It’s about time the public decided on their pay increases or decreases.
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association warns the public what happens to our sales tax that it never goes for what it is intended but straight toward administration raises. With that said, it doesn’t do any good for people to appear before the Supervisors, this is a done deal.
But what we the public can do is take that extra money away from these folks. This taxing us to death is over the top in this day of inflation. Increased wages cause this. It also will cause your rent to go up which is astronomical now. You don’t need $100,000.00 to live in Del Norte County.
The petitions are out for signatures to take back those taxes. Let’s pull together as a community and fight back for a change!
