Just before the House adjourned till after the November 5th election, Speaker Mike Johnson and others in House leadership strategized on a way to avoid a government shutdown. The House failed to pass all 12 individual appropriations bills again this year, so as Congress usually does, they introduced a Continuing Resolution (CR) to continue funding at current extreme spending levels and kicked the can down the road again to December 20th, where we will likely be forced to consider another massive omnibus spending bill with no real cuts so lawmakers can go home for Christmas.

I voted NO on two Continuing Resolutions introduced this month. I will not go along and fund a weaponized government without significant spending cuts, border security, or election security. Congress should do its job and pass individual appropriations bills on time instead of continuously manufacturing last minute fiscal crises that do nothing to address Washington’s spending problem and America’s $35+ trillion debt.
