I’m sorry I cannot and will not participate in trying to do anything to save my hometown where I grew up. We lost the battle many years ago with the rampant corruption. It’s sad they want to take out those iconic trees that denote much of Crescent City’s longstanding charm. I heard a rumor a few years ago that the reason the area around the library is being stripped of it’s iconic features was due to a future goal of removing the library and existing offices including the building that Christina’s is, Tab & Associates is, etc. I’m not sure what exactly is being planned, but nothing really seems to stop the agenda. I remember previous efforts to save that water fountain near there. While that was saved, the Tsunami Landing was later removed to “safety” issues. Instead, it caused major flooding issues for the buildings nearby. Now that I am hearing that yet more trees are being removed, I am starting to believe there may have been something to the rumor. Any hope of saving that town is lost with the corruption going on there. Nothing will ever change until the people put a stop to it. People should see some of the proposed plans for that area. At one time, I saw visual mockups of grandiose ideas of the revitalization of the downtown area. I don’t think I was supposed to see them. No, I am not talking about the proposed beachfront redesign. I’m talking about the very area around the library all the way to the parks building and over to 2nd street and all the way back to H street.
