Only morons raise taxes during a recession. If that’s true, then the State of Colorado should be complimented for their wise decision in ending their sales and use tax on diapers and feminine hygiene products.
Because eliminating the sale taxes on diapers, period, and incontinence products will help improve the affordability of these essential items in a time where inflated prices are hitting working families hard.
In a vote of 50 aye’s, 13 no’s and 2 excused, Gov. Jared Polis signed HB22-1055 eliminating sales tax on those items which goes into effect January 2023.
Can you imagine in your wildest dreams our California Gov. Gavin Newsom ever signing a bill that would repeal a tax?
Only two things in life are guaranteed: death and taxes. The three most common taxes we hear about are income tax, property tax and sales tax. Yet there are five states that do not have sales tax: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon.
The City of Crescent City and the County of Del Norte both decided it would be a brilliant move to add a 1% sales tax to our already overburdened taxed citizenry. They have collected millions of dollars and spending it almost as fast as it comes in on hiring new government employees among other things. How many of their constituents came to them and asked for a increase in sales tax? It would make a lot more sense for constituents to ask for mandatory rain barrels, easing regulations on planting edible gardens on their lawns and raising chickens.
Because of inflation and increased taxes, more and more people are driving to Brookings, Oregon to do their shopping to conserve what little money they have left.
The repeal of these two sales taxes will be on the November 8 ballot this year. We are sure to get hysterical accounts from our City and County government entities about the horror created by repealing these taxes. However, It’s come down to a two tiered way of life. Government employees vs the rest of us. How many of our government employees are going without a meal, without being able to pay rent, water/sewer and other utility bills, can no longer afford to eat out or gas up the car?
Just remember, there are very few people alive today in our area that lived through the Great Depression. When President Biden’s policies from day one of his office hacked away at our way of life, it was inevitable that a recession was in store.
How much longer do you think our country can survive his failed policies and stay out of a depression? Inflation is over 9%. His “Build Back Better” bill is the Democrats’ latest effort to spend your money and saddle you with more debt! It would raise our taxes, increase regulations and be a total disaster for America. Some are calling it the Build Back Broke Plan.
Anyone see the similarities of what happened in the once great prosperous country of Venezuela and our own collapsing economy?
We cannot afford to have morons running our Government.
