Board Members want Free Services

A “Special” Tri-Agency meeting was held October 13, at 3 p.m. at the Board of Supervisors Chambers. 5 out of the 6 board members made an appearance. There were 11 items on the agenda.

First topic of discussion was to give the Board of Supervisors their “donation” of $70,000.00 back to the county after it had already been deposited into the Tri-Agency Bank account. No discussion of why they wanted the “donation” returned was given.

Next topic of discussion was to Seek Forgiveness for fees related to the services provided to the Tri-Agency by the County Attorney Joel Campbell-Blair. Keep in mind County Counsel Blair was providing the Tri-Agency attorney services for a mere and unheard of $125.00 per hour. After two years of service the Tri-Agency owed County Counsel approximately $24,000.00 and now the Tri-Agency doesn’t want to pay that. REWIND…. The Tri-Agency does not want to pay for attorney services.

This should come as no surprise to the public since the public had to bail out the Tri-Agency for $290,000.00 of public funds in October 2022, because they handed out loans like candy and they were bad loans. Kind of reminds you of what the banks did in 2008. The Tri-Agency misappropriated public funds to the tune of $110,000.00 this past July when the government entities collectively voted to take your money and stuff it everywhere except to pay Tri-Agency bills. Demonstrating a continued failure of this agency. But it gets better.

The next item on the agenda was to discuss the tasks for an Executive Director. I wonder how much they plan on paying this person who must have a bachelor’s degree, all the bells and whistles. I hope the future director looks into the background of this Failed and Defunct Tri-Agency before accepting a position with them.

And what’s this? Another item on the Agenda to hire an attorney. You can’t make this stuff up. So these board members were literally talking about getting the City Attorney Martha Rice to work for them for FREE. Hell they are looking for anyone with an ESQ behind their name to work for FREE as an attorney. Only in Del Norte County.

Well there you have it folks, another episode of the Del Norte County Twilight Zone, where everything is free except to taxpayers.
