Certain politicians thought they could move lines around on a map and choose your representative for you. But they forgot one thing. We still get to vote.
You can see here how the people of the new 6th District just voted. We currently are in first place in the primary, despite Newsom targeting us with his gerrymander and doing everything possible to defeat us. In short, we made history.
As I said in my Election Night Speech, we are not going to let self-serving politicians take away our area’s representation. We will not let political insiders attack the values that make our area special and threaten our quality of life.
This was also my message in a national ABC News interview on Election Night. We’re fighting back against Newsom’s gerrymander in California, and then we’ll end this plague on our democracy nationwide.
We’re also fighting to hold state politicians accountable for the embarrassingly slow pace at which California counts votes. We’ve introduced the Election Results Accountability Act to require votes to be tallied shortly after polls close.
Meanwhile, in DC, we passed the Stop Child Care Scams Act to target the rampant fraud seen in places like Minnesota. And in a few days the House will vote on a bill I sponsored, the No Aid for Ghost Students Act, to stop the massive financial aid fraud in CA Community Colleges.
And after the hearing I chaired on the failed experiment with lowering standards in American education, several universities are reinstating admissions exams – and the UCs might be next. San Francisco has also brought back algebra after banning it from middle schools.
I will keep you posted as the painfully slow vote tally continues over the coming weeks. But we already know that we’ve made history. Now comes the fight for California’s future.
Help me make history this November
