Yesterday afternoon a tree fell at Last Chance Grade and injured three people. Jesse Salisbury of Del Norte and Curry County Scanner Feed was the first to notify us of this accident around 2 pm. “3 CalTrans contractors were hit by a tree and 1 was pinned to the guardrail.”

Former 1st District Supervisor, Roger Gitlin had this to say:

“Eye on Del Norte (Roger Gitlin’s new group) has learned Cal Trans engineer Karen Sanders, 58, Crescent City was airlifted to Mercy General Hospital, in Redding after a tree collapsed on Karen and two additional Cal Trans contractors along Highway 101, at Last Chance Grade. Karen is also the Del Norte County Republican Party Chair. The trio was surveying the long-troubled coastal route. The contractors were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital while Sanders was airlifted to Redding.

Prayers offered for Karen and the other unidentified individuals involved.”
