| California residents will get a much-needed break this Friday when members of the Legislature head back to their districts – once they leave Sacramento, they can’t do nearly as much damage as when they are sitting under the Capitol dome. That said, we are glad they’re on their way out, temporarily at least. Before they make their exit, however, tomorrow GOC will testify in strong opposition to 3 bills in two different committees: AB 1127 – BAN on any new purchase of all models of Glock handguns (Senate Judiciary), AB 1263 – Criminalizes sharing of digital files; places warnings on CNC machines and 3-D printers (Senate Judiciary) and SB 704 – Mandates background checks on the sales of all firearm barrels. (Assembly Public Safety). On that note, please don’t forget to weigh in on these bad boys at GOC’s LEGISLATIVE ACTION CENTER, where you will be able to send a personalized letter of opposition to your legislator. |
Last week AB 1078 (3 guns a month) passed out of Senate Public Safety and GOC called the author out on his lie that the bill doesn’t violate Bruen and the very recent Nguyen v. Bonta. To that, Berman responded directly to GOC’s Sam Paredes that “It is the opinion of ME as the author that 3 guns in 30 days will meet the [Nguyen v Bonta] test…” What arrogance. Marc Berman’s reading comprehension needs some help as the ruling by the 9th Circuit clearly stated “we are not aware there is any circumstance where the government can temporally meter the exercise of constitutional rights.”
