By Donna Westfall – March 19, 2018 – An hour after Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed a bill to ban abortion after 15 weeks, he was served with a lawsuit.

Currently there is only one abortion clinic left in the state. This bill is touted as the strictest bill yet with only two provisions for abortion:  1.) if a fetus has health problems making it “incompatible with life” outside of the womb at full term, or 2.)  if a pregnant woman’s life or a “major bodily function” is threatened by pregnancy.

Pregnancies resulting from rape and incest aren’t exempted.

The Republican Governor says that his state is saving more of the unborn than any other state in America.  The vote was 35 to 14 in the Senate and 76 to 35 in the House.  Both House and Senate were controlled by Republicans.

The abortion clinic and one of it’s physicians that sued the Gov. stated that of the 2500 abortions performed in the state in 2017, only 78 were past 15 weeks.
