On or about May 9, 2022 at approximately 0900 hours on Peveler Avenue in the Bertsch tract, it is alleged the Del Norte Sheriff responded to a 5150 call which resulted in death. The sheriff’s office to date has not sent out a press release.
The residents of Del Norte have not been given any information on who the deceased is, who shot the deceased, or whether or not the officer is on Administrative Leave. This is an intentional act from the Del Norte Sheriff Office who should be providing some form of press release regarding this incident.
In light of how the mentally ill are treated by the Sheriff’s office with pictures of a mentally ill inmate cell, you would think the interim Sheriff would provide as many facts as is allowable by law to the public. Especially since this was another act toward the mentally ill.
If there is one thing that we can depend on in Del Norte County, it is a complete lack of transparency. The community is not allowed to know anything unless our Rulers want the public to know. The Triplicate has never asked tough questions, but has always broadcast the official narrative. That is why the Crescent City Times is left out of the loop from any government information. Questions are forbidden.
