Today family, friends, hospital staff and millions of well wishers around the world were happy to see Dr. Kent Brantley and Nancy Writebol cured of  the deadly Ebola virus.  Writebol is in a weakened condition and went to a nondisclosed location.

“Today is a miraculous day.” Dr. Brantley started out the news conference.  “I am thrilled to be alive, to be well and be reunited with my family.”

They treated their first Ebola patient in June  Then steadily more and more patients came into their facility where they were treated with great care and compassion.  Dr. Brantley went on to say they took great care and every precaution to protect themselves from the dreaded disease.  Yet in July, Brantley was diagnosed with Ebola as he became sicker and sicker.  “I prayed that God would help me be faithful even in my illness,” he said then went on, “…in my life or in my death that He would be glorified.”

He was surprised to learn that millions around the globe had been praying for him and continue to do so.

Now, he needs time to be with his wife and family after being apart for the last month.  When he has regained his strength, then he will answer questions.

He concluded the news conference saying, “I am forever thankful to God for sparing my life.  Please continue to pray for the people of Liberia and West Africa.”
