The citizens of Del Norte County Dedicate This Flag to All Veterans who served our Country.
Chuck Orton fought long and hard for our country, but his service did not end there. His deep love of this nation—and what the flag represents—compelled him to attend Harbor District meetings and advocate for the Flag of Glory to be flown for our community.
Chuck has lived in this community all his life. I would call him a historic treasure, because he carries with him the living memory of this town—its struggles, its triumphs, and its heart.
In 1968, he married the love of his life. Last year, she went home to be with the Lord.
Today, Chuck continues to show up—not for recognition, but because he believes in honoring the past, respecting sacrifice, and preserving the values that built this community. In a time when history is often forgotten,
Chuck Orton reminds us that legacy lives in those who refuse to stop caring.
