This Sunday, July 27th from 11 AM to 4 PM, five locations are on the garden tour. This is their summer fundraising event.

For those unfamiliar with Habitat for Humanity per Ruth York, “Del Norte Habitat for Humanity was organized in 1998, with our first home being completed in 2001.  The homes we build vary in size, based on the needs of our partner families.  The most recent home completed (our sixth in Del Norte County) was larger, since our partner family had five children.  Another home was customized since the family included three generations of the family.  Our Habitat builds solid, durable homes with a zero interest mortgage that we ensure our partner families can afford.”

Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased at:

Johnston’s Gift Garden Home located at 962 3rd St, Crescent City, Ca. They are open from 10 AM-4 PM Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday. Tel #: (707) 465 4332

Del Norte Office Supply located at 783 3rd St, Suite A, Crescent City, Ca. They are open from 8 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday and 10 am to 4 pm Saturday. Tel #: (707) 464 5680.

Tickets will also be available at the places on the tour.

This year Doug and I are honored to be on the tour and supporting this worthwhile organization. We’re at 937 J St next to the liquor store on 9th and J, and across the street from the Ambulance company so just brace yourself when they turn on their siren to exit their driveway.

Other garden locations on the tour are:

411 A Street

100 Red Hawk Lane

6171 St. Bank Road and

The Food Forest at 883 W. Washington (College of the Redwoods)

You may visit the gardens in any order, but keep in mind the following:

No pets in the gardens and restrooms will NOT be available at the gardens.

Additionally, with the ticket, holders get a free ticket for the raffle items which will be at the Food Forest at College of the Redwoods. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased at that location. The raffle will take place at 3:30 pm; there are some great raffle items. Also at the College of the Redwoods location there will be vendors, music, and food trucks.
