Prior to Former Harbormaster Tim Petrick’s departure, there was discussion about creating a harbor police station with Tim Petrick as the Captain and Mike Rademaker handling the administrative duties. However, the idea failed because they did not consult other law enforcement agencies to get them on board. Instead, they opted to give a couple of harbor security personnel a two-week class on how to arrest people.
What they should have done was learn to write effectively in their logs. Unfortunately, they did not. Justin Hanks, who received two weeks of training, is now the Lieutenant responsible for reviewing all reports generated by the harbor patrol. However, he himself does not know how to write reports. One would expect that Rademaker, as the administrator, would review all log reports first thing in the morning when he arrives for his shift. However, Rademaker does not prioritize such tasks. Let’s not forget how Rademaker himself stated he was a former ranger for the National Parks.
In 2021, there was a headline regarding Eureka Police texting derogatory comments about the homeless. The harbor patrol has surpassed this level of unprofessionalism. Upon reviewing the December 2024 logs, I found the following:
December 26, 2024, at 2110 hours (9:10 PM): Lieutenant Hanks wrote, “I had to kick out the tweakie-twack that I moved along from Bayside RV on Tuesday. He’s dancing his way north towards the purple cat. He calls it ‘doing hieroglyphics,’ but to the rest of the world, it’s tweaking.” Since Lt. Hanks received only two weeks of training in Humboldt, his descriptions are completely unprofessional and worthless as the paper they are written on. It appears they did not understand these are legal documents that could be used in court one day. Rademaker, who claims to have been former law enforcement for the National Parks, allowed this to occur as an administrator.
December 28, 2024, at 1210 AM: Harbor Patrol Branden wrote, “Out with one in a van by the dumpster. I believe his name is Larry More. He was in his van watching something that looked to be naughty. I asked him not to block the dumpsters.” At 0200 hours, Branden wrote, “SOME NOISY HOE is yelling over by Bayside that she was gonna stab someone. I could not find her. I guess she went behind the fence area where that large RV is near the south side, and they called her in. She is now off to Sutter Coast for a 5150 hold.” As an administrator, Rademaker should have taught this individual the etiquette of writing reports. However, that task is too menial for Rademaker. Additionally, since Lieutenant Hanks does not know how to generate reports, this is now a permanent record. At 0500 hours, Branden described sea lions and stated, “Judging by the amount of poop they left up here, they should be arrested and/or shot. Can be charged with PC 647.” Penal Code 647 speaks to prostitution.
Eva Cambell has been a resident of Bayside RV park for a number of years. in fact in another post by this patrol person he states, ” it was raining outside and I see shower Nazi walking towards showers so i fled so I didn’t have to unlock the shower. Again this behavior was obviously condoned by Lt. Hanks and by Rademaker, as it is their responsibility to read these reports daily.
Out of all the reports I read, only Chance Smith and Matthew Klinger generated professional reports for the month of December. The rest of the reports were dehumanizing and reckless, all of which must have been approved by Rademaker.
