According to multiple sources, an 8.7 -8.8 earthquake took place this afternoon about 84 miles east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia.
The National Weather Service issued a tsunami advisory covering the entire West Coast, including California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii.
A tsunami advisory is the second highest alert level. It’s less severe than a tsunami warning which means it’s signaling an imminent or occurring tsunami. Meanwhile, stay away from the beaches just to be safe.
