This is a press release from The Lemurian Candidate – December 2, 2025

Following a fun, high-energy Humboldt premiere at the historic Eureka Theater on November 8, The Lemurian Candidate returns to the North Coast by popular demand, this time for a full week of screenings, December 5–11, at Broadway Cinema in Eureka and Crescent City Cinema in Crescent City.
The indie sci-fi buddy-comedy is now reaching the tail end of its West Coast tour, which began with a sold-out outdoor world premiere in Los Angeles and continued through packed, community-driven screenings up and down the coast. The film is entering its 10th consecutive week at Mt. Shasta Cinemas and its 3rd week at Ashland’s Varsity Theatre, momentum powered entirely by word of mouth and regional audiences embracing the film’s surreal humor and heart.
“We’ve been amazed by the reception everywhere we’ve shown the film,” says writer/director Casey Cooper Johnson. “The Humboldt premiere was one of the most electric nights of our tour, we’re thrilled to bring it back for a full week in Eureka and Crescent City so more people across the North Coast can experience it on the big screen.”
About the Film
Logline: Two friends take their troubled buddy on a Mt. Shasta backpacking trip to reconnect. But when he upends their plans with a stash of hallucinogens and a wild theory, their weekend spirals into a surreal quest for meaning… and contact with alien beings.
