A BILL PASSED IN 1960 REQUIRED WATER FLUORIDATION THROUGH THE COUNTRY. IRELAND HAS BEEN FLUORIDATED SINCE 1964. However, a new bill would see people prosecuted for putting fluoride into the water supply in Ireland – and they could serve up to five years in prison.
“The European Court of Justice has defined fluoridation as a medication and has refused to sanction its implementation. Yet our government continues to impose fluoride on the population at a cost of €4.8 million per annum,” says Sinn Féin spokesperson on Environment, Community and Local Government, Brian Stanley TD. At today’s exchange rate that equals approx. $6.3 million US Dollars.
Sinn Fein is an Irish republican political party in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is the second largest party in the Northern Ireland Assembly. It is the oldest movement in Ireland, almost 100 years old, who’s main objective is to end British rule in Northern Ireland.
With water fluoridation becoming a mainstream issue, and internationally in the few countries that still practice artificial fluoridation, the momentum against this public health policy is growing, said Declan Waugh, Bandon-based scientist (in County Cork, Ireland).
Last month the Minister for Health in Israel introduced legislation to end mandatory fluoridation. Recent reviews in Portland, Oregon and Windsor City in Canada also voted against this policy while 14 regional local authorities in Australia have terminated the policy since the beginning of the year. Reviews are currently ongoing in Hamilton, New Zealand, where Mr Waugh will be giving evidence this week.
I do believe we will see the end of worldwide artificial water fluoridation in the near future.
