There are countries that drink predominantly tea like China (98%), Nigeria (95%), United Kingdom (78%), Russia (77%) and in India 72% prefer tea to coffee. In the USA, coffee is the preferred beverage.
In our county, you can virtually go outside and pick and brew your own tea: dandelion, mint, basil, thyme rosemary and more.
Then with all the avocadoes we eat, I looked up what can be done with avocado seeds besides planting them, or throwing them in the fireplace.
Let the seeds dry for 2-3 days. Then put 2 or 3 of them in a pot containing 3 or 4 cups of boiling water and continue to boil for about 20 minutes or until they are soft. Next rise them off, peel off the skin, cut the seeds up into pieces or shred them. Then put them back in boiling water for about 10 minutes. Strain and add sweeteners or spices. I’ve purchased some sugar substitutes containing allulose; zero calories and won’t be bad for diabetics. My first cup contained allulose and cinnamon. You could experiment with any of these or combine some: cinnamon or cinnamon sticks, allspice, cardamom pods, cloves, ginger, lemongrass, mace, nutmeg, saffron, spearmint, star anise, vanilla beans or honey.
Are there any health benefits to drinking avocado seed tea? Yes. One site writes: “improves heart health by lowering blood pressure and LDL or “bad” cholesterol“. Another site says you only need 1 cup a day because it’s packed with nutrients. One additional thing, it contains anti-inflammatory compounds and thus can reduce inflammation.
Did you know there are hundreds of different varieties of avocadoes. The most common are Haas with a rough skin and Fuerte with a smooth skin. If you have avocado trees, the leaves of the avocado tree can be picked, dried and added to the tea for steeping. Strain everything and see how you like the tea.
