If you’ve ever had a friend or family member suffer with anorexia, you know the frustration of watching a loved one battle that dreaded disease. 9 out of 10 people suffering from anorexia are women.
Many are mystified by the disease. Why would anyone intentionally want to be concentration camp thin? Here’s one reason. Modeling is the one industry that encourages anorexia. But that’s changing. France is the latest country to join Italy, Spain and Israel in banning thin models. Anyone 5’7″ needs to weight 121 pounds minimum.
Agencies found employing models considered too thin could be liable for a fine of up to 75,000 euros ($85,000) and six months in prison.
It’s about time. Models should exude a healthy body so that young women want to duplicate their looks. Not this nonsense on being so thin as to be killing oneself.
