Many things are happening with Crescent City Harbor.

First and foremost the Solar Panels are working and one set of the panels off set electricity bill by $6,000. Normally the electric bill was $12,000 in a month. Although the solar panels still have adjustments to make in order to get the most out of the solar production, it is exciting to see just how much these solar panels will save the harbor annually.

There is a new Harbor Master whose name is Tim Petrick. He sounds fresh with a new outlook on the potential for the harbor. His background and experience includes Harbor work in Monterey and in a Bay Area Harbor.

Gerhard Weber is the person who replaced Carol White on the Commissioner’s board.

I asked Mr. Petrick about the issue regarding the excrement and urination found alongside closed public bathrooms. He stated he was aware of the situation and had brought it to the attention of the Harbor Commissioners. The excuse about the public bathrooms being closed was, “COVID”. And, Mr. Patrick stated they could not afford to have bathroom attendants clean the bathroom after each use. However, I informed Mr. Petrick that the public restrooms were opened in our city parks and there were no bathroom attendants.

The next Harbor meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the 20th of April which is Tuesday.
