LOBSTER

Hypomyces Lactifluorum is the Latin term for Lobster Mushrooms.  I noticed an ad in Crescent City Sweet Deals for these mushrooms FREE.  That’s my favorite four letter  “F” word. Plus it was from someone I knew, Tonya Pearcey from the Tea Party.  These mushrooms grow on her property and she’s been eating them for years.  She’s still alive and therefore it was just a matter of how tasty would they be?  If it passed the sauteing in garlic and butter test, they could become a regular in our diet.  They passed.

Last night I chopped up garlic, parsley,  lobster mushrooms and onions and let them saute in butter and SPIKE seasoning.  Then I poured the mixture over Jasmine rice and chicken.  Delicious!

  1. Good article. It is important to note before anyone eats any mushroom they be absolutely certain of its identification. If you do not know seek out someone who does BEFORE eating. Afterwards could be too late.

Lobsters are easy to identify once you know what to look for.

    1. Lobster mushrooms are parasitic; they live off of a host mushroom. While often safe, I don’t touch them because of their potential to grow from a deadly host.
