Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2017) – Statement from Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, reacting to the news that the U.S. Senate failed to get the necessary votes to defund Planned Parenthood today:

“Because of the Senate’s failure to act, the American people will be forced to continue giving over a half billion dollars a year to Planned Parenthood so it can keep its doors open and continue to kill 900 innocent preborn children every day.

“Lives are at stake, yet Senators Murkowski and Collins and almost every Democrat in the Senate sided with Big Abortion, with many repaying Planned Parenthood for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions the abortion chain has made to them.

“Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood continues to lie about the innocent lives they take and the abuses they hide in their facilities – including the cover up of child sexual abuse, the aiding of sex traffickers, the misinformation pushed on women, the promotion of sex selection abortion, and the trafficking of baby parts of the children killed in their facilities.

“The fight is far from over. The pro-life community and millions of Americans will continue to work toward the day when abortion facilities are no longer propped up by the taxpayers, when killing their own children is no longer offered to women as some kind of personal empowerment, and when the rights of innocent preborn children are fully protected by the law.”

  1. It seems to me I recall President Trump while campaigning said he did not want to defund planned parenthood. I don’t know if that changed. Women who have had to make that choice will have to deal with that personal choice on another level. There are abuses to every form of government spending, I really don’t want women to go backwards to a time where abortion clinics were dirty underground places. I do not personally support abortion and hid a pregnancy for 5 months when I was young so I would not be subjected to one. But planned parenthood is more than just abortion, you kill that program and you will hurt a lot of women.

  2. Why is it not okay to murder someone who is alive outside the womb but okay to murder a living creature gestating in the womb?

    1. It OK cause if you abort your baby at 4 months, it still can be frozen and thawed out and it still OK after freezing. That is the test for babies and seafood.

  3. The original Hyde Amendment was passed on September 30, 1976 by the House of Representatives, by a 207-167 vote. It was named for its chief sponsor, Republican Congressman Henry Hyde of Illinois. Know your facts ! Stop spreading lies !
