AT CAL-ORE LIFE FLIGHTS. Saturday afternoon, June 22nd, many enjoyed a delicious lunch of deli meats & cheese on croissants, fresh veggies with dip and fresh fruit at CAL-ORE Life Flight located at the Airport. That was inside the hangar. Outside they had hot dogs on the bar-b-que.
When invited to attend by someone who knew exactly nothing about the event, I asked, “Since when is there a restaurant at the Airport? Should we pack a picnic lunch?” We were pleasantly surprised to see an open house taking place. Tables were covered in festive July 4th decorations with potted red dahlia’s blooming. While the weather was nice around the noon hour, people could take a ride on a helicopter. By 1 pm, the weather turned dour and flights were off.
Should you require fast transport to a Medford Hospital, they can get you there in under 20 minutes. They maintain 7 fixed wing planes which fly a lot faster than a helicopter.
Lead Pilot for AirLink, CARL NATTER out of Bend, Oregon states, “We can be in Crescent City within an hour for overflow.” They maintain a reciprocal program that has a Palates PC12 model plane that holds up to three medical crew members, 2 patients and 1 family member. They have satellite communication, GPS technology and a new radio.
