By Assemblyman Kevin Kiley – February 6, 2022
I just got this letter in the mail from the Assembly Rules Committee. It reads:
Dear Assemblymember Kiley:
You received the following per diem amounts during the 2021 calendar year from the California State Assembly:
2021 Total: $0.00
I’ve received that letter each year in the Legislature, saving taxpayers over $200,000 in per diem declined. The Majority, however, is always coming up with new tricks for getting themselves even more per diem.
Too many elected officials simply feed at the public trough. It’s spawned a professional political class that doesn’t serve the people.
That’s why I support term limits for Congress: to revive representation as our Founders intended it. And it’s why I rely on citizens-supporters for the funds needed to run a winning campaign.
Today at 3:32 PM is exactly one month since I announced for Congress. At this moment we have the support of 4,811 citizen donors. With your help we can get to 5,000.
