Maggie Smith – what an actress! A career that spanned 70 years. The first thing I noticed her in was A Room With A View made in 1985. She played the chaperone.
Enjoyed her in Sister Act 1 and 2 as Mother Superior made in 1992 and 1993.
Absolutely loved her in The First Wives Club as Gunella Garson Goldberg made in 1996. I’m not a fan of the Harry Potter franchise or Downtown Abbey series but realize many people loved it.
She was knighted in 1990 by Queen Elizabeth and became Dame Maggie Smith. She won many awards including Academy Awards, Tony’s, Golden Globe Awards, British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA), Screen Actors and more.
Born in 1934 in Ilford, Essex, England in the United Kingdom, she passed away today at the age of 89 in London.
