WHO KNOWS WHAT ALL THAT YELLOW FOAM IS ABOUT AT SOUTH BEACH?
While there has been some speculation that the source of the yellow foam is from some type of pollution (sewage or industrial), and residents have been concerned that marine mammal life has been harmed because of it, the following information puts new light on the subject:
Jaclyn Bennett, MS Marine Fisheries through Del Norte Extension Office states, "The yellow foam found at South Beach will not harm you or your animals and it is not harming sea lions. The yellow foam is the collection of shells of expired diatoms. The sea lions are most likely dying due to lack of food in the ocean."
