During the1960’s, tie-dye became very popular during the heyday of the hippies. Performers Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker sang at Woodstock in 1969 wearing tie-dye shirts and the fad took hold.
But that’s not where tie-dye got it’s start. We have to look back to ancient China and the Tang Dynasty (618) and ancient Japan (6th Century). In ancient China they used berries, leaves, roots and flowers. In ancient Japan they used indigo which has a variety of hues predominantly in blues.
Now you an enjoy the vibrant colors at Wonder Stump. Tie dye shirts, dresses and hoodies are all featured there. They are located at 1070 North Hwy 101 in Crescent City.
