The County Attorney has prepared the following title and summary of the chief purpose and points of the
proposed measure: Title: An Initiative to Repeal the Del Norte County Transactions and Use Ordinance.
Summary: At the 2020 general election the voters of the unincorporated area of Del Norte County
approved Measure R, which enacted the Del Norte County Transaction and Use Ordinance, a one percent
sales tax in the unincorporated area of the County. This initiative would repeal that ordinance.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CIRCULATE INITIATIVE PETITION
Notice is hereby given by the person whose name appears hereon of their intention to circulate the
petition within Del Norte County for the purpose of submitting an initiative measure to a vote of the
people.
TEXT OF INITIATIVE: A statement of reasons of the proposed action as contemplated in the petition
is as follows: This measure was placed on the November 3, 2020, ballot by the Board of Supervisors
establishing a 1% sales tax.

We’re already taxed to death with some of the highest taxes in the nation.
Our local politicians don’t know when to stop. Tax Busters needs to deal with
reality. Animal Control is not an emergency. 2. Our roads are on a par with 3rd world countries. We’re not seeing any repairs being done. 3. Former CAO Sarina said no Measure R funds would be used for salary and benefits. This is far from the truth as dozens and dozens have been hired.

THE PEOPLE OF DEL NORTE COUNTY DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

THE TEXT OF THE INITIATIVE MEASURE: The people of Del Norte County hereby ordain as follows: Measure R the 1% sales tax which was enacted as Ordinance No. 2020-013 on 4/1/21 is hereby repealed at the next general election. Published: April 16, 2024. Crescentcitytimes.com
